Orit Reuben Busy with Two Upcoming Juried Plein Air Events

SPS Member of Excellence,  Orit Reuben has been juried into the Floyd Plein Air VA which will be held August 15-20 as well as the Suffolk Plein Air VA held on September 6-10.

Diana Coidan has Two Pastels Accepted in the Craven Arts Council Exhibition in New Bern, NC

SPS Member, Diana Coidan has two pastels accepted in the Craven Arts Council 2022 Bank of the Arts National Juried Exhibition in New Bern, NC juried by Maya Brooks. The opening reception and awards will be held during ArtWalk, Friday, July 8th 5-8pm The exhibit runs through August 30th.

 

 

Lake Country Juried Art Show Merit Award Earned By Member Ann Dodys

Ann Dodys received a Merit Award at the 6th annual Lake Country Juried Art Show in Eatonton, Ga. for her painting, “Uncle Jimmy and Friends”. The show is at the Artisan Village Guild and will be up until September.

Connie Reilly wins Merit Award at IAPS

Connie Reilly piece, “Golden Child,” has won a Merit Award in the 2022 IAPS International Open Division.

Mozley wins medals in NC

Cathy Mozley recently won the gold and silver medals in the pastel division of the Western Carolina Sr. Arts Competition.  Her painting, “Creeking Up On Autumn,” will now be entered in the state competition in Raleigh in September.

Catherine LaPointe Vollmer wins award at APS National Show

Catherine LaPointe Vollmer’s piece “Second Life” has won a Blick Art Materials Award at the 8th annual Adirondack National Pastel Exhibition. The show may be seen in person at View Center for Arts and Culture in Old Forge NY, or online at the link below.

“Ragdoll in a Cloud of Fluff”

“Ragdoll in a Cloud of Fluff” wins 1st

Kim Wilder Hinson’s pastel painting “Ragdoll in a Cloud of Fluff” won first place in the Art to the Rescue Show in Dunedin, Florida’s Stirling Art Studios and Gallery. This show is held annually as a fundraiser for the Dunedin Doggie Rescue, and is the highest-attended show of the year. All mediums are accepted, and entries must portray an animal.

Dawn Limbert's painting included in the exhibition with Society of Graphic Artists at Mall Galleries

Dawn Limbert’s painting “Summer in Mucking,” which is in the current online exhibition, is going to be exhibited with the Society of Graphic Artists at Mall Galleries, London, UK this month. This comes after it was long listed for Jackson’s Painting Prize last month.

 

Becky Woodward juried into 2022 IAPS juried Pastel World Exhibition - 40th Open Division

Becky Woodward is VERY excited and PROUD to announce that her painting has been accepted into the 2022 IAPS juried Pastel World Exhibition – 40th Open Division to be held in Albuquerque, NM starting June 22, 2022!!  A photo of the painting will be available for publishing after the show begins.

Susan Klinger juried into the Spring Member's Online Show of The American Artist's Professional League.

Susan Klinger’s pastel, “Water’s Rush” has been juried into the Spring Member’s Online Show of The American Artist’s Professional League. The show will run April 25th to June 6th 2022 and is able to be viewed on the AAPL website.

Susan also has two pieces currently on exhibit at the Mennonite Heritage Center, Harleysville, PA as part of the Perkiomen Valley Art Center’s member show.

Marlene Steele - Courtroom coverage: US v. Xu Espionage

Marlene Steele was commissioned to document the federal prosecution of Yunjan Xu, Chinese spy conspiring to obtain GE Aeronautics trade secrets. She documented the various witnesses including the arresting officer in Belgium, GE security officers, Mandarin language specialists etc.  Judge Tim Black presiding.

Orit Reuben has won Best of Show for “Waiting for Scraps” at the 2021 Pastel Society of Central Florida exhibit at Casselberry Art House.  She is also very excited to announce that  she joined Park Avenue Contemporary Gallery in Winter Park, Florida, beginning in July.

Anne Spivey awarded 'Honorable Mention' in Central Mass Pastel Society's 2021 "Marks of Distinction' Juried Exhibition

Anne Spivey’s “Mystical Place,” 14×11, won an Honorable Mention award in the Central Massachusetts Pastel Society’s, 2021 Marks of Distinction, juried exhibition. “Mystical Place” was one of 100 accepted pieces in this show which is available for viewing at https://www.cmpastels.org/no_t om2.html . The selection jurors were Lyn Defienbach and Teresa Saia. The Juror of Awards was Tony Allain, PS, ARSMA, PSA, MC-IAPS.

Marsha Hamby Savage featured in PleinAir Magazine's September 2021 Pastel Special Issue

It was very exciting to receive the September PleinAir Magazine with a special focus on pastels featuring “Pros’ views on using the medium en plein air!”  In addition to the feature articles written by today’s pastel masters; the magazine did a showcase of pastel artists whose works “exemplifies the range and craftsmanship possible with this versatile medium.”   Marsha Hamby Savage’s painting, “Rising to the Sun” 20×16 is included in the PASTEL SPOTLIGHT section of the magazine.
